Kerala government is planning to set up 30 private industrial parks by December this year and will encourage colleges to establish campus industrial parks to boost the ecosystem in the state, said Minister for Law, Industries and Coir Shri P. Rajeeve on October 11, 2023.
“Around 11 industrial parks have been sanctioned so far and another three parks will be given permission in the coming days,” the Minister said while speaking at the Trivandrum Management Association (TMA) Management Leadership Award 2023 ceremony at Thiruvananthapuram.
TMA President Shri C Padmakumar presided over the function.
Shri Rajeeve presented the TMA Management Leadership Award 2023 to Prof. Dr. Saji Gopinath, Vice Chancellor, Kerala University of Digital Sciences, Innovation and Technology (Digital University Kerala), in recognition of his exceptional contributions to education, management, business, and the development of Kerala.
Lauding the awardee, Shri Rajeeve said Dr. Gopinath has acted as a driving force to establish a link between academic and industrial establishments, besides strengthening the startup ecosystem in the state.
The Minister said along with the proposed private industrial parks, the government will also encourage campus industrial parks to be set up in colleges and universities having a minimum of five acres of land.
“More than 30 engineering colleges and three universities have evinced their interest in establishing the park. Campus industrial parks will be a path-breaking step by the Industries and Commerce Department,” Shri Rajeeve noted.
Recently, the government has revised the Private Industrial Estate (PIE) scheme to enable individual developers to build industrial parks to step up the industrial infrastructure in the state.
The Minister added that TMA can associate with the government in leveraging the capital city’s potential and expertise in human resources.
Shri Padmakumar said one of TMA’s objectives is to nurture professionals and set up role models for the new generation.
TMA Secretary Wg Cdr Ragashree D Nair, Past President Dr M Ayyappan, and Senior Vice President Dr Jayasankar Prasad C also spoke.
Instituted in 1986, the TMA Management Leadership Award is meant to honour individuals and organisations for exemplary work manifesting management excellence and leadership in their respective fields.
