Two of Kerala’s leading names in traditional and integrative healthcare – Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala and Sanjeevanam Ayurveda Hospital – were honoured at the CII Kerala Health & Medical Tourism Awards 2025 for recording the highest international patient footfall in 2024. Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala received the award in the category of institutions with more than 150 beds, while Sanjeevanam Ayurveda Hospital was recognised in the 50 – 150 bed category.
Several other hospitals and wellness centres were also recognised at the ceremony, including Aster Medicity Kochi, KIMS Healthcare Trivandrum, SUT Hospital Trivandrum, Softtouch Ayurveda Kochi, Punarnava Ayurveda Kochi and a healthcare institution from Thiruvalla, which received awards across different categories.
The awards were presented by P. Rajeev, Kerala’s Minister for Industries, Law and Coir, to Dr. P.M. Varrier, Chief Physician and Managing Trustee of Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala, and Dr. A.V. Anoop, Managing Director of Sanjeevanam Ayurveda Hospital of the AVA Group. The event was hosted at the Adlux International Convention Centre, Kochi, as part of the Global Ayurveda Summit and Kerala Health Tourism 2025, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Kerala.
The recognition highlights the leadership of these institutions in offering quality healthcare, maintaining global treatment standards, and enhancing Kerala’s profile as a preferred destination for medical and wellness tourism.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. A.V. Anoop said, “This honour is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to holistic healing and patient well-being. We aim to continue advancing the standards of Ayurvedic and integrative healthcare for patients visiting from across the world.”
One of the highlights of the programme was the screening of Ayurveda – The Double Helix of Life, a documentary produced by Dr. Anoop and directed by Mr. Vinod Mankara. The film delves into Ayurveda’s foundational principles and their alignment with contemporary scientific research, referencing more than 1,000 peer-reviewed studies. It also illustrates advancements in clinical validation, standardised manufacturing and treatment efficacy.
The CII Kerala Health & Medical Tourism Awards recognise excellence in healthcare delivery, safety, research, innovation and international patient services, reinforcing Kerala’s growing stature as one of the world’s most trusted centres for health and wellness tourism.
