Company introduces BS-VI compliant Innova Crysta

As a part of its efforts to make a smooth transition to BS-VI vehicles across the value chain, without putting any stress on the dealer network, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) successfully ensured runout of BS-IV vehicles from its plants by end of January 2020. This is well-ahead of the regulatory deadline to begin sales of only BS-VI vehicles from April 1, 2020, according to a press release.

The company recently introduced BS-VI compliant Innova Crysta in January with an announcement of bookings at a limited introductory price offer.During this transition period, TKM sold a total of 5,804 vehicles to its dealers (wholesales) in the month of January 2020.

The company exported 1,318 vehicles of the Etios series during January 2020 thus clocking a total sale of 7,122 vehicles.

TKM had sold a total of 11,221 vehicles in the domestic market in January 2019. The company exported 846 vehicles of the Etios series in January 2019 thus clocking total sales of 12,067 vehicles.

Commenting on the monthly sales, Mr. Naveen Soni, Senior Vice-President, Sales and Service, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “We are happy that our BS-IV stock correction measures helped us efficiently liquidate the BS-IV inventory from our plants by January 2020. We have consciously cut down the BS-IV production this month to start delivering BS-VI vehicles in a phase wise manner depending on BS-VI fuel availability across the country.”

He further added, “We are happy to note that customers have responded well to the BS-VI compliant Innova Crysta. We have already reached nearly the equivalent of one month sales as bookings since the introductory price announcement on January 6, 2020. As reported earlier, our manufacturing plant has already transitioned to a 100% production of BS-VI vehicles and the dispatch to dealerships of all BS-VI vehicles has begun from the end of January 2020.  We are cautious on how customers respond to the increased pricing of the BS-VI vehicles, especially in the diesel car market, as this will play a key role in the growth trajectory of the industry. The next few months may turn out to be highly volatile and challenging for the auto industry. TKM is making plans and continuously adjusting to match the changing market conditions,” according to the release
