Company sells 91,342 passenger cars in December 2019
Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold 133,296 units in December 2019. This includes 124,375 units in domestic market, 1,360 units of domestic OEM sales and 7,561 units of exports registering a 3.9% growth over December 2018, according to a press release.
The company sold 91,342 passenger cars in December 2019 as against 83,729 during the same month in 2018, registering 9.1% growth. The total domestic passenger vehicle sales touched 122,784 in December 2019 as against 119,904, a growth of 2.5%. While the compact car sub-segment, which includes, New Wagon R, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, and Dzire, registered a growth of 27.9% with 65,673 units being sold in December 2019, in the same period in 2018 the company sold only 51,346 units. However, in the Mini sub-segment consisting of Alto, S-Presso and old Wagon R there was a 13.6% fall in sales at 23,883 units in December 2019 as against 27,649 units during the same month of 2018.
The sale of vans, Omni and Eco, fell from 15,850 units in December 2018 to 7,634 during the same period in 2019, registering a loss of 51.8%, the press release said. The sale of utility vehicles, Gypsy, Ertiga, XL6, S-Cross and Vitara Brezza grew by 17.7% to 23,808 units in December 2019 as against 20,225 units in December 2018. The company launched XL6 in August 2019 and the S-Cross in September the same year.
The sale of mid-size Ciaz fell by 62.3% to 1,786 units in December 2019 as against 4,734 units during the same month in 2018.
