`Rekthasakshyam’, a year-long programme to observe the 70th death
anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, will be organized across the State.
The diamond jubilee fellowship of rupees 10,000 will be given to thousand young artists. The selection and training of the artists have been completed. ‘Kerala Paithrukolsavam’ was organized in Telangana and Delhi in association with the Department of Archeology for introducing the varied art forms and culture of the State.
The cash prize of Ezuthachan and J C Daniel Awards had been raised to rupees five lakhs. The Family Pension and Kerala Cultural Activist Welfare Fund Board pensions have been raised to 1500 and 3000 respectively.
A panel headed by Justice Hema was appointed to study the problems and working condition of women in the film industry.
Initiatives for a permanent venue for film festivals and development of Chithranjali Studio as a film city have begun. An amount of Rs 100 crores and 150 crores has been sanctioned respectively through KIIFB fund.
An Apex Council for Culture has been constituted for streamlining the functioning of various cultural bodies and for the formation of a new Culture policy.
‘Pleasure Home’, an old age home for elderly artists living in misery, will be established.
Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University
A 4-crore research institute for performing arts, construction activities for new campus with an estimate of Rs 10 crores, a unit for making, exhibiting and selling of musical and percussion instruments, costumes and ornaments for various art forms. The renovation of Nila Heritage Campus will also be implemented
Kerala State Chalachithra Academy
The Chalachithra Academy award ceremony will be held in Kollam this year.
The work for the memorial for Kalabhavan Mani, Kodakkad Kannapperuvannan and Manakkadan Gurukkal at Kerala Folklore Academy will begin soon.
The Kerala Sahithya Academy will build memorials for O.N.V Kurup, Punathil Kunjabdulla, Edassery Govindan Nair and N.N Kakkad. The renovation of Azhikode memorial will be completed.
The Chithranjali Theatre at Chittoor was inaugurated after completing the renovation and expansion works.
Hundred theaters will be built by KSFDC (Kerala State Film Development Corporation) in villages. In addition to this more theaters are being planned with private participation also.
Malayalam Mission
The summit and chapter formation of the malayali associations in UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and UK has been completed.
The schemes for the integration and expansion of study activities in Australia have been initiated.
SC/ST Development and Welfare
All the perquisites and allowances of SC/ST students have been raised.
A scheme of giving financial assistance for bright students to pursue post graduate courses in top institutions abroad will be put in place. Already an amount of Rs 66, 55,153 was given to eight students under this category.
Insurance schemes called ‘Valsalya Nidhi’ and ‘Gothra Valsalya Nidhi’ were started for the security and welfare of SC/ST girl child born after April 10th, 2017.
When this Government took over, around 16,360 houses were remaining in the spillover category. Out of these, we could complete 6,308 houses. 22,000 houses were freshly sanctioned. The construction work for 21,946 houses has begun and 6,604 houses were completed.
This government distributed 1,400 hectors of land to 1,037 people belonging to the scheduled tribe. 25 cent land each were purchased and handed over to 119 families. A scheme for buying and distribution of land through TRDM for 3,000 has been devised.. The initiatives to provide land for 10,000 tribal communities are progressing with the assistance of Forest and Revenue Departments.
A Millet Village scheme to encourage leased land cultivation was started in Attapadi.. Special agricultural packages were had sanctioned in Aaralam and Sugandhagiri. To ensure nutritious meal for tribal communities, 192 community kitchens were installed in 189 houses at Attappadi. Initiatives for the expansion of the same in Wayanad and Malappuram will begin soon. A cultural festival ‘Gaddika’ is being organized for finding market for traditional products and encouraging art forms of SC/ST communities.
